Surgery 2012

Yesterday June 11, 2012 I had my first surgery (excluding wisdom teeth)

It was just a minor thing, they took a benign tumor out of my boob.. There was a little bit of a rush on it because I'm still on my moms insurance and we would have had to pay more than double of already a lot of money if I waited til July or after. Also if I get pregnant the thing would have grown to be the size of third boob.. it was already on its way there.. and I'd probably have to find some sort of special bra or something so.. we took care of it.

But all I'm going to share are the highlights...

Travis gave me the best blessing before we went. Living with a worthy priesthood holder is a pretty great thing.

I got a phone call while we were sitting in the waiting room to see if I was going in for my surgery that day... I could hear the lady talking to me on the phone and in the room. So that was awkward

It took three tries to get the IV in... after two the nurse went to get help from someone who is a pro at putting them in... While she was explaining that to me I wondered why they aren't all required to be pro's at it. I wasn't mad though, it was funny. And apparently I have dainty veins when I'm not allowed to eat or drink for only 12 hours..

My nurse was wearing "Grey's Anatomy" scrubs... but I didn't see any sexual tension around or anything that could relate to that show.

While I was talking to an old friend who was the anesthesiologist, the surgeon Dr Stultz opened the door to the room and said "BATTER UP!" then walked away. That was the only contact I had with him prior to surgery.
And I liked it.

They asked me to initial the spot. That was weird. Also... dont mind my awkward tan lines..

The nurse in the recovery room was my moms bff Kristine... I dont really remember a lot of what she was saying because I was just waking up.. but I remember something about a trip to yellowstone our families went on together 100 years ago and something about me potty training.  I'm sure it was a good story.

They have a big wrap on my holding the gauze that feels so good and I dont even need to wear a bra because of it, score.

I've had more pain in my throat from the breathing tube than from the slice they put in the boob. I hope it stays that way.
Travis noticed that the cabinet in the room was smiling and waving, do you see it?

Other than the fact that it was surgery it was a pretty good experience, everyone was friendly, there were familiar faces, Travis is a great caretaker, and I'm feeling good.

There's your update on my lyfe.

  1. I love blogging Annie. Love her! So glad you had a great experience. I love to be operated on (ya, I know weird). And now we are kindred b/c we have both blogged about our boobs. Anywho. I am SO glad you are recovering well. Good luck on the throat hurting more than the boob slice.
